What are your favorite wheelchair accessible hotels in Rome?

I already have a question from the internet:

"What are your favorite wheelchair accessible hotels in Rome?"

I welcome answers that address those for adults  were children using wheelchairs,  and walkers or other adaptive  equipment?

I can't say that  I have comprehensive experience. But,  Eisenhower Park in San Antonio  is beautiful,  maintaining a connection with nature while providing wheelchair access.

It has easy access to 1604 with nearby restaurants.

Please note that it is a favorite  for dogs taking their owners for a walk.  If your child is dog-sensitive, eager eyes open.

Cruise  ships with  Children  With  Special  Needs

I often  received questions from families about advice  for going on a cruise with a special needs child.

Frankly, I don't know what to tell them.

I'm opening up the blog for comments and advice from parents and travel experts.

Welcome to A Blog About Travel with Special Needs Children.

As a pediatric neurologist, I spend a lot of time with families of children with special needs.  And, there is no shortage of such families.

Did you know: One in 5 families has a child with special health care needs.

One of the things they have in common is that they all travel.

These adventures can be short trips  or  longer odysseys. They may travel to grandma in the next county, a parent who lives in another state, or around the world.

Many families take the children for treatments  and  therapies in other countries.  However, some families are susceptible to " Neuro flapdoodle"  promises.

While Jonathan Friedman remarked that the world is "flat", such is not always the case for families of children with disabilities.   Parents are  often isolated  and the typical travel guides don't give the important information.

And,  as a parent of a child with some added physical needs,  I know that the best source of information is other parents.

Bring  on the Internet!  I'm writing  and editing this blog to flatten this part of the world.

let's see where this voyage takes us...

Kindness To Children in The City Of David

Kindness To Children -  An overdue  thanks from a parent....

In 2011,   my wife and I traveled to Israel with my 4 children.  As these things happen, my daughter got a fever while exploring Jerusalem.

Unlike the US,  pharmacies are not on every corner in the old city.  We were late waiting on line at the  City of David  and I asked the women at the ticket sales desk for directions to the nearest pharmacy to buy  acetaminophen.

Quickly, they asked what the problem was. I explained that my 9-year-old daughter had a fever.

Without blinking an eye, the woman quickly asked her coworkers where the first aid kit was and offered me acetaminophen.  “ Is one enough?   You are visiting.   Please take 3 so that you will have time to find a pharmacy."

She took the medicine, perked up and off we went on our tour.

Since that time I've  often thought about this kindness.   Could there be a  more fitting place to demonstrate generosity to strangers and  kindness to children?
